I received hundreds of messages. Many are still coming in.
I had messages from close friends, friends I haven’t heard from in a while, people I’ve never met. All were incredibly thoughtful, and I appreciated them deeply.
I may not be able to reply to them all, but I read each and every one, and they meant so much to me.
I’m realizing how long it will take to get over this. In a very real way, I’ll never get over it.
It also makes me fear for the day when someone very close to me – a close friend, or an immediate family member – is lost.
But all the kind words and notes helped enormously.
