Busy, busy world…

For the next three weeks, I fear the online cartoon will be updated Tuesdays and Thursdays only.

This is primarily due to Dr. Blink #2, Dork Tower 31 and Go, Dork! Go! – The Collected Dork Tower Vol. VIII needing to get to press, or already being there. Plus the fifth reprint of Dork Covenant and the first of Understanding Gamers also have to get out. Like, now.

Then there’s this lil’ card game called “Munchkin Bites II” that needs to be finished off in a few weeks’ time. Plus a secret project or two…

So, like, June is BUSY.

In fact, until the work’s done, it looks like I’m going’ underground for a while.

Going underground.

Let the boys all sing and let the boys all shout…

Speaking of Munchkin Bites II, I’ve been filing and cataloguing over 1,000 Munchkin cards for my reference. This is so that, when new sets come out, it’ll be easier to look up old drawings.

On the plus side, this also means it’ll be easier to finish off my LiveJournal Mood Icon set, as soon as the other work’s finished.

On the minus side, between this, and the “Go, Dork! Go!” layout and filing (this is another 160-page web strip compilation), I’m goin’ slightly cross-eyed…

Liz Rathke and I have just finished preliminary work on a new Snapdragons children’s book, called “Cat Hair is Everywhere,” starring Mitzi and Huey.

News on a release date when we have one.

But…yay! New SnapDragon goodness.

And New York Times bestselling author Jackie Mitchard has written a grand intro for the SnapDragons trade paperback, “The Kids are Alright.” Out soon, with some new stories (and possibly some sketches from “Cat Hair”) included…

Dr. Blink #2 is already at press. I think people will be VERY pleased with it.

What I’m really chuffed about is the new cover Chris and Melissa came up with for Dr. Blink Issue #3.

(We had to juggle storylines a bit, so “Mid-Life Crises on Infinite Earth” is pushed back a tad).

This just totally made my week…

And this is just the PRELIMINARY color job. The finished thing should just be as fab as fab can be!

Here’s the “Coming Next Issue” blurb for Blink 3:

There are eight million.
stories in First City.
We’re gonna give you
four of ‘em. Because
comic books are funny
that way. And anyway
that still leaves us with
7,999,996 of them
if we need some later.

Yeah…it’s been a LONG few weeks…

Saw Camper Van Beethoven and Modest Mouse in concert Monday.

Much like the Fountains of Wayne show, I was surprised how this one seriously rocked.

Well worth the $25 ticket price, if they’re coming to your town.

Lastly, depressingly, what ho:

Chinese gamer sentenced to life

A Shanghai online gamer has been given a suspended death sentence for killing a fellow gamer.

Qui Chengwei stabbed Zhu Caoyuan in the chest when he found out he had sold his virtual sword for 7,200 Yuan (£473).

The sword, which Mr Qui had lent to Mr Zhu, was won in the popular online game Legend of Mir 3.

Attempts to take the dispute to the police failed because there is currently no law in China to protect virtual property.

For some reason, I’m in a mod classic Who kinda mood these days…

Hence the brand-spankin’ new logo for Dorkstock IV!

Which version do you prefer? I sorta prefer the “character generation” one. But it may be a bit obscure for a T-shirt…

So, anyhoo, yeah…long story short – I may not be posting here for a while.

But the work’s kicking along.

Peas, out,

John
